I absolutely loved the rooms at Shizuya Kyoto! They were so cozy and comfortable, perfect for a weary traveler like me. The air conditioning was a lifesaver, and I loved having a wardrobe to keep my clothes organized. The shared bathroom was clean and the hairdryer was a nice touch. The elegant furnishings made me feel like I was staying in a fancy hotel, even though it's a guesthouse. And let's not forget about the handy amenities that were provided - they made my stay even more enjoyable. Oh, and did I mention the desk in each room? It was super convenient for catching up on work or planning my next adventure.
If I had to pick one thing I liked less, it would be the shared bathroom. It's not a big deal, but I prefer having my own private bathroom.

We had a wonderful stay at Shizuya Kyoto! The guesthouse had a rustic cabin feel with contemporary amenities, which created a pleasant and cozy atmosphere. The location was perfect - just a short walk from Kyoto Station and easily accessible with good GPS. We loved experiencing the Japan-style lodging as it truly completed our visit. The staff was welcoming and helpful, even taking care of our luggage and making a reservation for us in Japanese. The building itself was beautiful, all made of wood, and despite being centrally located, it was surprisingly quiet. The comfortable bathroom with plenty of amenities and the option to have our own small room made our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto.

Cleanest guesthouse I've been to in Japan. MUJI skincare and bath salts available. Great location. Beautiful architecture. Quiet and tidy. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff. Tucked away in a cute alley. Two buildings with baths and amenities. Wood smell. Friendly English-speaking staff. Small café next door.

I had a great experience staying at Shizuya. The location was perfect, just a 10-minute walk to Kyoto Station and other nearby attractions like Kyoto Tower and Honganji. I didn't need to rely on transportation as I could easily walk to most places. The facilities were also impressive, with a laundry machine available and a bath in addition to showers. The shared kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and complimentary water and tea. The friendly staff and clean, cozy atmosphere made my stay even more enjoyable.
Nothing bad to say 👍

Hidden away in a narrow alley lined with neat gardens, this hostel is conveniently located close to the train station and the city center. The room was modern, clean, and had excellent facilities including a kitchen, washing machines, and a bath with an automatic fill and temperature setting. The staff were kind and accommodating, allowing guests to stow their bags before and after their stay. The hostel also provided a selection of facial toners, cleansers, and oils, as well as a free breakfast.
The mattresses were a little thin, causing discomfort after a few nights.

We had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse. the place was spotlessly clean and had excellent facilities. We were able to make delicious drip coffee using the coffee machine and even cook simple meals on the stove. the kitchen was well organized, making it easy to find everything we needed. the staff were also incredibly nice and helpful, making our stay all the more enjoyable. the individual rooms and the four-person dorm were both beautifully designed, providing a soothing and cool environment after a long day exploring the city. we highly recommend Shizuya for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Kyoto. Cons: N/A.
